Rex dasher es el mejor like si te gustan los Playmobils. Dude its as if the lego movie was on crack and made this movie. I find it ridiculous how many critics trashed this movie. I went into this film with very very low expectations, like Chicken Little levels. But its accually a cute film. It is no Finding Nemo, but a quick paced little story of adventure. It moves quickly and kept my kids attention. There were more moments where I thought this was really good. Jim Gaffigan did a great job. It is a musical with a lot of action. As a Dad who is a classic film buff I would watch this again and yet again the critics are aweful. Its not Lego movie, but it is harmless fun. On top of that the movie is 5 per ticket due to an experimental pricing experiment. Please do yourself a favor at this price, go see this with the family. And ignore the critics who can this but throw high numbers at whatever Disney throws up.

In PLAYMOBIL: THE MOVIE, Brooklyn-raised high school senior Marla ( Anya Taylor-Joy) loves playing with her 6-year-old brother, Charlie ( Gabriel Bateman) but she can't wait to graduate and start traveling the world with her brand-new passport. Then life takes an unexpected turn when tragedy strikes. Four years later, Marla struggles to raise 10-year-old Charlie, who runs off to Manhattan to join a friend but gets sidetracked at a toy convention that features a huge Playmobil display. When Marla tracks her brother down there, they get magically transported into the animated Playmobil universe, where Marla looks basically the same but Charlie looks like a warrior with super strength. The siblings are drawn into a war between pirates, Vikings, and knights, and Charlie is kidnapped at the bequest of Maximus (voiced by Adam Lambert) a Roman-style emperor who hosts gladiator-style battles to the death featuring the strongest warriors of the universe. Now Marla must figure out a way to once again find and rescue her brother. Is it any good? There aren't enough moments of delight, humor, or joy in this toy-based movie, which is likely to bore parents but may well appeal to young kids who enjoy Playmobil sets. After the success of the Lego movies, it's hard not to see Playmobil: The Movie as a completely derivative endeavor that falls far short. In a reverse of the original Lego Movie, this one begins with the live-action part and then transitions into the animated toy world. But this one isn't nearly as clever or funny, the music isn't as catchy, and the set pieces and characters are only vaguely familiar, unless you're an existing (or former) Playmobil fan. All of that said, the talented voice cast saves this from being a completely wasted 90 minutes. While the songs are bland and forgettable, Lambert's Freddie Mercury-esque vocals as the villainous Maximus are fun. (Just don't expect to leave singing the new "it song" of the season. The buddy road-trip subplot between Marla and Del is silly, though it lacks sparkling banter and chemistry. But it's still funnier than the parts with Charlie and his fellow imprisoned "gladiators. Disappointing but not unwatchable, Playmobil feels more like a C-grade copycat than an original idea. Talk to your kids about... Follow ing Go To Audience-Alienating Premise: While the idea of a LEGO movie was met with ridicule before its release, it ended up blowing everyone away and actually made sense since LEGO is such a worldwide phenomenon. Playmobil is more of a niche toy, with many comparisons to The Lego Movie flooding in as soon as the trailer released. Fitting, since Playmobil has always been stuck in LEGO's shadow. In fact, the only way this movie wouldn't be overshadowed by The Lego Movie is if this movie came before, which it didn't. Awesome Art: While it doesn't look much like Playmobil, even the movie's harshest critics agree that the artstyle is gorgeous. Cliché Storm: Sibling duo, who are orphans with the older sister being Promoted to Parent, have a strained relationship. The older sister grew up too fast, while her brother is still a kid playing with toys. One day, the two of them accidently enter a magical world of toys, where the older sister has to prove herself and learn to be a kid again, while her brother gets superpowers which helps him mature. Ensemble Dark Horse: Rex Dasher is generally considered to be one of the few genuinely likable characters, due to being a charming British spy played by none other than Harry Potter himself. It's even referenced in the critical consensus on Rotten Tomatoes: Much like the toys it advertises, Playmobil: The Movie seems sadly destined to be regarded as a superficially similar yet less desirable alternative to the competition. They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Many viewers argue that the plot and premise of the movie has potential, however, they couldn't have handled it worse than they did in the movie. The movie pretty much goes from setpiece to setpiece, some more interesting than others, but without any significant development made in any of them. If there wasn't the overlaying theme of the heroine trying to save her brother while discovering the feeling of being a kid again, the movie would be a straight-up Random Events Plot. For that matter, the parents dying and straining of Marla and Charlie's relationship is only brought up at the very beginning. Some people felt that the movie could've focused more on these two characters and their realistically tragic situation, especially since the movie takes a nose-dive into childlike absurdity without any real connection between one plot and the other. Took the Bad Film Seriously: Despite the rather lackluster script, the main cast has gotten praise for at least trying to give good performances, with Daniel Radcliffe being usually singled out as the best performance in the movie, with his voice work giving Rex Dasher a lot more personality that the script wouldn't allow. Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Many reviews consider Charlie to be very rude and hurtful to his sister, acting like a brat for no onscreen-illustrated reason and outright using their parents' deaths to claim she's dead inside. Ultimately its she, not him, that learns a life lesson, implying that he wasn't in the wrong. Though in all fairness, he is still just a kid who was hardly taught any better. Marla isnt exactly exempt from this either since it is implied her overprotective nature caused Charlie to be annoyed with her. Del also fits into this category during the scene where he leaves Marla when she reveals that she lied about having more gold than she previously said. Marla calls Del out on this, saying he wouldnt have helped her if she didnt offer him any gold. While Del admits this, he tries to downplay it since the dangers they faced are what hes more concerned about. While it is true Marlas actions resulted in many dangers, Del pretty much admits that he wouldve only helped Marla if it benefited him and uses the dangers from the adventure as an excuse to back out. We're Still Relevant, Dammit. If the premise alone wasn't already a testament to that, in the movie proper Charlie is seen flossing. That is all.

A Georgian dancer finds his voice amidst a conservative culture in Levan Akin's luminous drama, which is Sweden's official Oscar submission. Like his mother and father before him, he has trained in the art of traditional Georgian dance since he first began walking. Lean and sinewy, he delicately balances stiffness and flow with each precise move, his eyes alight with the pure joy of creative expression. Hes the paragon of Georgian health, a perfect marriage of the fledgling democracys bright future and its proud past. If only his demanding dance coach, who barks that he is “too soft, ” could see it that way. If only there were room in Georgian dance — in Georgia itself — for a little softness, maybe the country wouldnt be losing so many of its artists, scholars, and innovators to more progressive climes. “ And Then We Danced, ” Swedish filmmaker Levan Akin s luminous tour de force (and his native countrys Oscar submission for Best International Feature Film) adorns itself with the question of cultural identity as proudly as Merab dons his traditional Georgian dance robe in its rousing final scene. Born in Stockholm to Georgian parents from Turkey, Akin chose to set his third feature film in Tblisi, at the intersection of one young mans arrival at queerness amid his rigorous training in the National Georgian Ensemble. We learn that hyper-masculinity is one of the central tenets of Georgian dance, although it only became so in the last 50 years. By framing his gentle coming-of-age tale around such a traditional piece of Georgian culture, he has made an inherently political film, and rendered it in sensitive terms with a celebratory spirit, not to mention a culture rarely seen onscreen. Its one of the years best gay films. “And Then We Danced” begins in the studio, with Merab (Levan Gelbakhiani) circling his longtime dance partner Mary (Ana Javakishvili. In the extensive dance scenes, Merab is smooth and joyous, bringing an unmistakable flair to the hard movements. But every time he seems to get into it, all strong shoulders and splayed hips, hes stopped and made to start again. “Georgian dance is based on masculinity, ” his teacher says. “There is no room for weakness in Georgian dance. ” “And Then We Danced” Anka Gujabidze Merabs day-to-day is an endless stream of hard work and stress: sweating through rehearsals, waiting tables for too little money, fighting with his drunken brother, and keeping the lights on for their grandmother and unemployed mother. Nevertheless, he cant help but skip elegantly on his way to catch the bus, as the citys golden light and colorful clotheslines illuminate his way. When a new male dancer arrives from the country, Merabs initial suspicions of the competition give way to intrigue. Dark-haired and with broad shoulders, the earring-clad Irakli (Bachi Valishvili) talks back to the teacher and follows his own rules. Though Merab is incensed when Irakli takes his place in a duet, he softens to the newcomer when the two start early morning rehearsals together. It isnt long before their desire takes over, once they find each other in the woods during a weekend of partying at a friends country home. Drinking homemade wine out of glass carafes and cavorting loudly around the shabby manor, they settle into a unexpected romantic backdrop. Fallen from its former glory, the setting nonetheless exudes a charming grandeur in its peeling paint and windowed parlors. Dancing to Robyn on the moonlit porch, an oversized fur hat atop his head, Merab vibrates with the electricity of first romance. Stealing sideways glances at Irakli in the car ride home, a wide and knowing smile spreads across his face. Hes too happy to notice the other boy doesnt return his gaze. The rest is fairly predictable, but Akin fills Merabs world with enough other intrigue to transcend the cliches of one unrequited gay romance. Merabs awakening may begin with Irakli, but it doesnt end with him. When Irakli disappears back home without warning, Merab makes eyes at a swishy young man with long hair. He follows his new friend to a gay bar that wouldnt be out of place in any other European city, as the loud and flamboyant crew party all night, ignoring the slurs of passersby. Akins script diverges from the traditional coming-of-age tale, even as he hits all the old notes — forcible outing by a jealous classmate, fight scene, the inevitable heartbreak. Its all there, but the movie remains laser focused on Merabs internal journey. His forceful final dance audition provides the films impassioned finale, as the character finally unshackles himself from the burden of tradition to perform with unbridled style and joy. There may be no room for softness in traditional Georgian dance, but there is always room for interpretation.
